Admission to Premises
All Legion members and guests must adhere to House Rules.
Members must be able to provide proof of current membership when requested.
Members of other Legions, RCMP, Police Service, Correctional Services, Firefighters, or Armed Forces will be admitted upon proof of identity and affiliation, and sign our guest
book.
Non-members shall sign the guest book along with a Branch member who shall stay responsible for them during their stay. Guests must leave the Branch when the signing member leaves. Members are limited to signing in six guests excluding those of their immediate family. Extensions to this limit must be addressed to the President.
Hours of Operation
The service of alcoholic beverages will cease half hour prior to the applicable closing time and the premises will be vacated at the expiry of this time. The bartender/bar manager may close the facility at his/her discretion. If there are patrons on the premises, the bartender/bar manager may extend the closing time, while respecting the limitations of the Liquor and Gaming Commissions licence.
Conduct of Members and Guests
No behavior will be tolerated which interferes in any way with the use and enjoyment of facilities by their fellow members and guests. Foul or abusive language, racial or prejudicial remarks, fighting, and loud, rowdy or obnoxious behavior will not be tolerated and are subject to disciplinary action.
Any person who, in the opinion of the bartender, is intoxicated, unruly, or is using profane, offensive or abusive language will not receive any further service from the bar and shall be asked to leave the premises.
Dress Code
All Legion Members shall, while on premises, be clean and neat. Shirts and footwear must be worn at all times.
Members shall be responsible for their guest’s dress
and deportment.
Final decision as to the applicability shall be made by the on duty bartender or bar manager.
The following are not permitted:
- Bathing suits, Muscle shirts
- Shirts with obscene wording or graphics
- Greasy or dirty clothing
Hats and Head-Dress
A head-dress is acceptable for religious or medical reasons, and for entertainment events accepted by the Branch Executive. (ex. Halloween, Christmas, St Patrick’s Day)
Hats may be worn for a privately booked hall rental so long as care and consideration for the Branch is maintained.
Hats otherwise are not be worn during regular Branch hours.
Cigarettes
The use of cigarettes, including e-cigarettes (electronic), are prohibited inside the Branch. This has been confirmed in the minutes of Legion meetings.
General, Special, Executive Meetings
Alcohol sales are suspended during the hours of these meetings to ensure the safety and integrity of the meetings. If there are any issues with members conduct during these meetings, the Sgt At Arms will escort the offenders out of the premises.
Outside Drinks
No outside beverages are allowed to be brought into the Branch.
Pets
Animals of any nature are not allowed in the Branch unless they are special-needs/service dogs.
Gambling and Fundraising
Gambling is strictly prohibited unless under the licence of the Branch. Violators will be subject to disciplinary action or revocation of privileges. Fund raising activities are not allowed in the Branch without prior authorization of the Branch Executive.
Rental Facilities
Any part of the building that is temporarily rented is out of bounds to all members and guests unless they are the Sgt at Arms or part of the bar staff. Those part of the rental group must respect the rules of the Branch.
Children (17 Years and Younger)
Children are welcome in the Branch. They must not be left unattended at any time. Children must leave the premises by 7pm unless there is private or special Legion event whereby the Branch Executive or Bar Manager deem it acceptable.
Children must be accompanied by an adult to purchase items at the bar.
You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase alcoholic drinks and raffle/gaming tickets.
Remembrance Day is the one exception whereby the Branch allows adults only.
Complaint Procedure
All complaints must be in writing addressed to the President. Complaints must be signed, in a legible manner, prior to any action taking place. A suggestion box is also available in the Branch and is reviewed initially by the Branch President.
Damage to Branch Property, Lost or Stolen Articles
All Legion members and guests are liable for any/all damage they cause in the Branch. Failure to pay for damages shall result in suspension for guests and disciplinary action for members, and/or legal action where necessary. This also includes removing Branch property without the permission from the President. The Branch will not be responsible for lost or stolen articles.
Suspension or Deprivation of Privileges
The President reserves the right to impose on a member or guest a suspension or deprivation of privileges in accordance with the General By-Laws of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Note: In any conflict between House rules and the By-Laws of the Royal Canadian Legion, By- Laws shall take precedence. Liquor and Gaming regulations shall also take precedence over
House rules in the event of a discrepancy.
